Five Ways to Check Your Civil ID Status
The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) provides five official channels for checking Civil ID status in Kuwait.
| Method | Where | What You Need | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| PACI website | paci.gov.kw | Civil ID number | No login required — fastest option |
| eGovernment Portal | e.gov.kw | Civil ID number | Same PACI database, different interface |
| Sahel app | iOS and Android | Civil ID number | No pre-registration needed |
| MOI Kuwait app | iOS and Android | Civil ID number + personal details | Requires account registration first |
| Phone | 1889988 | Civil ID number | Voice call to PACI agent |
PACI issues Civil ID cards to every Kuwait resident and manages all status records in real time.
The PACI website does not require a password, email address, or registered account — the Civil ID number alone is sufficient to retrieve your status.
How to check on the PACI website
- Go to paci.gov.kw
- Select Electronic Services
- Click Card Status
- Enter your 12-digit Civil ID number
- Complete the captcha and click Inquire

How to check on the Kuwait eGovernment Portal
- Go to e.gov.kw
- Find the Civil ID section
- Select Inquiring about Civil ID Status
- Enter your Civil ID number and submit
Both portals pull from the same PACI database — the result is identical on either platform.
What Each Status Result Means
Each result requires a different response — knowing what to do next saves time.
Ready for Collection means the card is processed and waiting at your PACI collection centre or with the courier if home delivery was selected.
Under Process means the application is still being handled. No action needed unless the status has not changed after 14 working days.
Suspended means PACI has placed a hold on the card.

A suspended Civil ID cannot be cleared online or by phone. It requires a physical visit to a PACI office with supporting documents.
The phone line 1889988 runs during government office hours and is busiest Sunday and Monday mornings. Calling Wednesday or Thursday afternoon cuts wait time significantly. The PACI website check is available 24 hours and returns the same result instantly.
Why a Civil ID Shows Suspended
Suspension has three common causes — each resolved differently.
- Outstanding renewal fine — pay the fine through the PACI payment portal, then request the suspension be lifted
- Data mismatch — name or record discrepancy between PACI and MOI files requires in-person correction at a PACI office
- Expired residency — Civil ID not updated after residency renewal requires a visit to PACI
As of 2026, no Kuwait government service counter processes applications for a resident whose Civil ID shows Suspended in the PACI system.

FAQs
Can I check Civil ID status using my passport number
No. PACI does not accept passport numbers on any status check channel. The 12-digit Civil ID number is the only accepted identifier across the website, eGovernment portal, Sahel app, MOI app, and phone service. If you do not know your Civil ID number, visit a PACI office in person with your passport.
What if my status shows Under Process for more than two weeks
Contact PACI on 1889988 with your application reference number. Common causes for delays beyond 14 working days are incomplete documents, a data verification hold, or high demand after public holidays. PACI can confirm whether action is required on your side or whether the delay is internal.
Can I check someone else’s Civil ID status
The PACI portal returns a status result for the number entered but does not display personal details alongside it. You need the other person’s Civil ID number to run the check. Accessing another person’s civil records without legal authorisation is not permitted under Kuwait law.
